Past Clients from Robertsbridge East Sussex were after a cabinet to firstly home a treasured book and secondly to support a television.A design was agreed upon incorporating drawers with a double height top drawer to take the book, giving the appearance of a stack of 4 evenly spaced drawers.A knob design was selected and hand turned in oak.We try to add something personal to all our bespoke furniture, can you see what it was on this chest of drawers? T V unit / Window Seat in Natural Oak Finish Saturday, Oct 19 2013

This was an interesting project for new clients in East Hoathley, East Sussex, who wanted to combine a TV unit and  window seat beside their inglenook fireplace.

Combining oak and oak veneered board the frame was made and jointed with provision in the back to fully enclose the multitude of wires associated with the TV hardware.

The sliding door also made it possible to access plugs and sockets with little trouble.

This piece was to match a bookcase  made by us earlier in the year.

Solid Oak Wardrobe

 

Clients from Burwash East Sussex commissioned a fitted wardrobe in solid oak to fit in an alcove. As with many cottages the only way into the room is in flat pack form.

Prefinished components were assembled and fitted into place, with the fillets scribed to the walls to give a neat finish.

The dovetailed drawers were fitted on soft close runners for a luxurious feel, and mirror with safety backing mounted on the inside of the door.

Inlaid stone table top with maple frame. Saturday, Oct 5 2013

A long standing client from Hurst Green in East sussex had acquired a rather special marble panel and decided the best way to show it off  was by mounting on a frame to use as a table.

The heavy top required a solid base without looking chunky. Maple was used in the construction with a matt lacquer finish.

Cherry Cabinet With Drawers Saturday, Oct 5 2013

After a recommendation Mr and Mrs S from Hildenborough came to us with an idea for a solid cherry cabinet. It was to compliment other pieces in the room so the unit needed to be colour matched, distressed and hand finished to suit. The bow fronted top was moulded with a 6mm radius scotia and the legs splayed at the bottom. The drawers were dovetailed and the flap held on burnished hinges and adjustable stays. A New And Improved Cream Hall Shoe Seat Saturday, Oct 5 2013

Fully Fitted Hall Shoe Seat

Mr and Mrs B. formerly of Iden Green were moving to Broad Oak and were leaving the original hall shoe seat we made behind. Sussex Bookcase Company were commissioned to make the mk 2 version which was designed to be fully fitted in the new hallway.

The cabinet was constructed in Tulipwood and moisture resistant board and painted in a cream spray finish. This item is highly personalised with a copper leaf heart and monogram.

Lounge Furniture in Oak.

Right hand cabinet in oak

Mr and Mrs S in Wittersham, Kent were searching for custom made furniture for either side of the chimney breast. They had very specific requirements, and we worked together to design 2 pieces that were both functional and pleasing to the eye.

The furniture was constructed from a combination of solid oak and veneered oak boards to a natural polished oak finish. They were then carefully scribed to the walls, not easy to do when the heavy oak tops need 3 sides doing!

The left hand unit at 2.73m wide x 709mm high x 450mm deep incorporating speaker and TV hardware and adjustable bookshelves.

The right hand unit at 1840mm wide x 800mm high x 500mm deep included drawers on soft close runners  and adjustable shelves.

Pair of Antiqued Cabinets in Oak Wednesday, Dec 5 2012

Mr and Mrs F from Smarden in Kent wanted matching cupboards that would feel part of the original cottage. They had a very clear idea of the style required and knew exactly what was going where behind the drawers and doors. After the quotation and drawings were prepared and accepted oak samples were polished  to give a colour choice that suited the room.

The cabinets were 56″high x approx. 29″wide x 16″deep (1422mm x 736mm x 406mm).The front portion (facia)was constructed from European oak with character features or knots and the cabinets from moisture resistant 18mm / 6mm boards. The back sections were spray painted in white and a distressed, quality hand polished finish was applied to the facias.

And Inside

The cabinets were fully fitted,tops being scribed to the alcove and side fillets to the walls.The right hand unit also had to straddle pipework and allow access to a drain cock, so the plinth is also removable.

Painted Bookcase in Five Sections. Saturday, Dec 1 2012

This bookcase unit was commissioned by Mr and Mrs W. from Wye in Kent to fill the wall space of a newly converted cottage.

The piece measures 2.075m high x 3.5m x 0.305m deep, made in 5 sections with totally adjustable shelving. The durable spray paint finish was colour matched to Little Green Paint Companies White Lead No74 therefore no hand painting was needed to complete the piece after installation.
